| as a special girl in Desert Song,
a fairy in their 2003 production of Iolanthe and as Phoebe
in The Yeomen of the Guard at the Gilbert and Sullivan
Sing Out. With the Society for Classical Singing, of which she is
a founding member, Kiersten appeared as Dorabella from Cosí
fan tutte, the Third Lady in scenes from The Magic Flute
and numerous recitals. She has appeared in concert with the McLean
Symphony, the Reston Chamber Orchestra, and is the alto section
leader at Bethesda Presbyterian Church. She has also sung with the
Paul Hill Chorale, the Handel Choir of Baltimore, and on recording
with the New York Treble Singers. Kiersten received her Bachelor
of Music from Bucknell University where she studied with Susan Beckley
and Dr. Catherine Payn, in addition to working with the Bucknell
Opera Company. Currently, she studies with Carol Schuster Yunkunis
and received her Master of Arts Administration in August 2004. When
she is not leading the crazy life of a “young mezzo”
(translation = many-a-trouser role for her!!) she can be found teaching
middle school music and theatre in Howard County, Maryland or working
as a dental assistant in Georgetown. She is currently planning the
biggest production of her life: her wedding to the wonderful Todd
Whitehead.
