Andrea Schewe (Elmire, Costume Coordinator-Tartuffe; Donna Ribalda-The Stoned Guest, Marcellina-Marriage of Figaro, Mrs. Lovett-Opera Goes to Hell) Originally from the San Francisco Bay area, she moved to New York to study voice with Rose Bampton and Adele Addison at the Manhattan School of Music. She is seen frequently on local stages. With the Washington Savoyards she has played the part of Fairy Queen in
Iolanthe, Dame Carruthers in The Yeomen of the Guard and Hebe in H.M.S. Pinafore, as well as the Duchess in The Gondoliers andother G & S roles with Victorian Lyric Opera. Some of her favorite opera roles have been Isabella in The Italian Girl in Algiers, Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti, Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief, and Count Orfofsky in Die Fledermaus. On the concert stage, she has performed Bach’s b minor Mass, when she was reviewed as a singer with a “standout voice of dusky, imploring poignancy and clarity” (Washington Post), Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Haydn’s Mass in the Time of War, a complete Handel’s Messiah, and P.D.Q. Bach’s The Seasonings. She is currently a student of Elizabeth Vrenios.
